Galapagos Week Two

Galapagos Week Two:

What an incredible second week in the Galapagos Islands. It's almost impossible to describe what it's like being in the archipelago but those who have been lucky enough to experience it know it is unlike any other place on the planet.  Once in the islands, it immediately becomes visible how the Galapagos  provided the foundation from which Darwin formulated his theory of evolution and natural selection. In harsh and foreboding landscapes where you would expect to find little life, there exists an abundance of organisms - each perfectly and uniquely adapted to its own micro niche. One finds entirely different species of finches, iguanas, mocking birds and plants from one island to the next.  It's a place where the raw processes of life come to the surface and present the traveler with an unparalleled look at how natural processes have unfolded for millions of years.  I feel truly blessed to have been able to spend over 20 days exploring over 25 different sites throughout the islands. To be given the opportunity to experience life on this scale of grandiose perspectives and intimate encounters is truly humbling.
